Rome Tennis Center at Berry College to host ATP Challenger Event July 10-17, 2022

Rome, Georgia (June 13, 2022) — Rome Tennis Center at Berry College will host Georgia’s Rome Challenger, a USTA Pro Circuit event on the ATP Challenger Tour July 10-17 at its 57 court facility. The men’s pro tournament will feature top ranked players competing on indoor hard courts for over $50,000 in prize money and valuable ATP ranking points.

The tournament, which takes place immediately following the conclusion of Wimbledon, will kick off a strong summer season of tennis in the United States and features male players ranked in the top 75-250 in the world. It will feature a number of rising American stars and slots in the week before the Atlanta Open, an ATP 250 event. This will be the third professional tournament hosted in 2022 at Rome Tennis Center; Tatjana Maria capturing the $60,000 women’s championship in early February, and the ITF Georgia Open, a professional wheelchair tournament with $32,000 in prize money, was held in early March.

“We’re thrilled to bring professional tennis to Rome Tennis Center once again this summer,” said Ann Hortman, Director of Rome Sports and co-tournament director. “Watching some of the best players in the world up close and personal at challenger events is something that every tennis fan should experience.”

“Providing these players with access to a great facility and home to compete in is something we take great pride in,” said Colt Gaston, General Manager of Rome Tennis Center at Berry College and co-tournament director. “This gives our members and local players an amazing chance to see what top level tennis is all about.”

“This is another fantastic event for the city of Rome and our facility,” said Sammy Rich, Rome City Manager. “We now host men’s and women’s pro events, high stakes college tournaments, and a wide range of junior tournaments. I’m excited to see our city come out and support these players as they compete on our courts.”

Official player acceptance lists will be announced soon, and the tournament is currently seeking ball persons and volunteers. The tournament will be livestreamed on Challenger TV, which is hosted on the ATP Tour website. Tickets are available at www.RomeProChallenge.com
